Makai Ouji: Devils and Realist Review

In a world where money and power are synonymous with status, Salomon is the one who will decide the future of the Demon Kingdom.Makai Ouji: Devils and Realist, is a manga written by Madoka Takadono and illustrated by Utako Yukihiro, this story introduces us to William Twining, a young aristocrat who is also a Realist; Therefore, he believes that every phenomenon has a 100% scientific explanation. However, our story begins when William finds a magic circle, which due to an injury, drops a drop of blood into it and it is suddenly activated.

Due to this event, fragments of William’s past will begin to take shape and this is how he will have to become involved in the challenge of obtaining money to be able to finish school (since he has become bankrupt) and become an important aristocrat and live comfortably, at the same time he must choose the next ruler who will decide the future of the Demon Kingdom

Among the characters that this story presents to us are the candidates to take the position of Lucifer, who has fallen into a deep sleep, from which it is very possible that he will never wake up. William is an important piece in this entire conflict since he is the reincarnation of Solomon, the one who managed to dominate more than 72 demons and turn them into his servants.

Makai Ouji: Devils and Realist

Dantalion, Sytri and Camio will be the candidates closest to William to try to persuade him to choose one of them as the next successor. On the other hand, there are also the angels, those messengers of God who will try to intervene with William’s destiny so that that demonic coronation does not take place.

One of the angels who will be closest to William will be Uriel, however, he will take on another appearance to be able to go unnoticed in submission. Next to Uriel, observing him at every moment and pending the movements of the Demonic Kingdom and of course the actions of William and the elected candidates, will be the Archangel Michael.

Makai Ouji is an entertaining story, full of comedy, some fanservice, good character design and good animation. Personally, I would hope that a second season had already been announced, however, we will have to make do with the manga.

The anime adaptation premiered in 2013, with only 13 episodes by Dogakobo and Pony Canyon, the manga was published for the first time in 2009 and is still in production, currently 12 volumes of this manga have been published.

The OP “Believe My Dice” and ED “A Shadow’s Love Song” are performed by the seiyuu of William, Dantalion, Sytry and Camio (Eguchi Takuya, Trashuma Takuma, Matsuoka Yoshitsugu and Kakihara Tetsuya).
